If anyone needed more proof that Rishabh Pant is the heir apparent of MS Dhoni, it came during the CSK vs DC match in IPL 2024 in Vizag when the Delhi Capitals wicket-keeper attempted a no-look run-out, and hit the bull’s eye, although by that time the batsman had came in the crease after putting in a dive.
CSK and DC met at the ACA-VDCA cricket stadium in Visakhapatnam on Sunday night for a cracking contest. Both Rishabh Pant and MS Dhoni gave the fans plenty to cheer about with their explosive batting.
The left-handed Delhi Capitals captain scored 51 off 32 and took Delhi to 191, which they defended successfully, winning the game by 20 runs as Khaleel Ahmed and Mukesh Kumar. However, it was the former CSK captain MS Dhoni who took the limelight with his blockbuster finish of 37* runs in 16 balls, clobbering 4 fours and 3 sixes. Even if Dhoni’s innings went in vain, the CSK fans were happy to witness his thunderous finish.

During CSK’s innings, Rishabh Pant made a no-look run-out attempt of Ajinkya Rahane. The throw came in from near the edge of the circle. Pant collected it and threw it on the stumps and hit the top of the stumps without even looking at it.
Rahane had put in a dive so he was safe. This action from Pant was further an indication that he is quickly getting back to the mojo and rhythm of top-level cricket as he had before his accident in December 2022.

Speaking about his innings and the match, Pant said, “Took my time initially because I haven’t played much cricket, but I kept believing I could change the match. [Hand-off-the-bat six] One and a half years [been waiting to play], this is something I have built my life on. Still have to keep learning as a cricketer.”
