Watch: Rohit Sharma And Virat Kohli Celebrate Pollard’s Wicket Together

Ever since Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have attained success and have grown in stature, there have been frequent rumours and reports of rift between the two stalwarts – more so after India’s loss in the 2019 World Cup, with Sharma winning multiple titles with Mumbai Indians while Kohli’s trophy cabinet in IPL and ICC events remaining empty.

Both the players, though, have time and again made it clear that there is no such crack between them; recently even chief selector Chetan Sharma asserted that “Things are absolutely fine” between the two modern-day greats.

Well, one such scene of the bond between the duo was captured during the first ODI against the West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, where India registered an emphatic 6-wicket win over Kieron Pollard’s side.

It was after Kieron Pollard was dismissed for a golden duck – missing a googly from Chahal that dipped on him, went through his big bat-pad gap as he played an expansive drive – that Rohit and Kohli celebrated energetically.

Fans had been questioning whether Kohli will show the same energy and passion in the field while playing under Sharma as used to do as a skipper himself. Well, here’s the answer.

As soon as they saw Pollard’s timber disturbed, both Kohli and Rohit jumped in joy celebrating with a longish high-five! Kohli, in particular, looked really ecstatic.

Here’s the video:

Kohli also assisted Rohit in DRS of Shamarh Brooks and was also seen helping out the skipper with field placements.

This was Rohit Sharma’s first ODI as India’s full-time ODI skipper. Although after the match he said that he doesn’t “believe in perfect game” this was an ideal start to his stint.

After India had bowled out the visitors for 176, courtesy of 7 wickets between the spinners Washington Sundar and Yuzvendra Chahal, Sharma led from the front with the bat with a smashing 60 runs off 51 balls, easing down the chase for the rest of the batters, as India take a 1-0 lead in the 3-match series.

The second ODI is scheduled for Wednesday at the same venue. KL Rahul, the vice-captain, will join the team after missing the first ODI due to personal reasons.
