Watch: Shardul Thakur’s Heavy Collision With Martin Guptill During The Second T20I

The 2nd T20 between India and New Zealand ended in favor of the Indian cricket team at the Eden Park in Auckland. The home side is now trailing 0-2 in this series as the Men in Blue had defeated them in back-to-back two matches last. This is a 5-match series hence, India will look to add extra pressure on New Zealand by winning the third game as well.

The Indian bowlers have already put New Zealand on the backfoot with their terrific bowling performances. Despite the presence of Martin Guptill, Kane Williamson, Ross Taylor and Colin Munro in their batting lineup, the Kiwis could only score 132 runs in their 20 overs. Ravindra Jadeja was the star performer for Team India with figures of 2/18 in his 4-over spell. Also, Shardul Thakur impressed the cricket universe by taking the wicket of Martin Guptill in the final over of the mandatory powerplay.

Shardul Thakur collides with Colin Munro

During the last powerplay over of New Zealand’s innings, Shardul Thakur bowled against the duo of Guptill and Munro. On the third ball of the over, Munro tried to steal a single by softly placing a ball. Thakur had already leaked a lot of runs hence, he was under immense pressure. Given how tense the situation was, neither of the two players cared to look at each other as they ran their hearts out for their respective teams.

Ultimately, the Indian fast bowler bashed into his Kiwi rival as the fans got a WrestleMania-esque moment in Auckland. Watch the video here.

After this over, Thakur did not roll his arm as skipper Virat Kohli used Shivam Dube’s services to complete Thakur’s quote of 4 overs. It is unknown whether Thakur has suffered an injury or he was taken out of the bowling attack because of his expensive economy rate. But as he scalped a wicket on the last ball of his spell, one can assume that he would have hurt himself.
