Watch: Shoaib Bashir Tried To Review A Bowled; Joe Root Couldn't Stop Laughing

England tailender Shoaib Bashir and batter Joe Root shared a hilarious moment during England’s second innings in the Dharamsala Test as Bashir tried to review a bowled!

England were bowled out for 195 in their second innings in Dharamsala and lost the Test by an innings and 64 runs. Bashir and Root were the last two wickets to fall respectively.

Shoaib Bashir was bowled by Ravindra Jadeja, the ball clattering into his off-stump after pitching in line and straightening to beat his outside edge. Wicket-keeper Dhruv Jurel caught the ball after deflection off the off-stump and he, Jadeja and the rest of the fielders started celebrating the bowled dismissal.

But it seems that Shoaib Bashir thought Indians were celebrating a caught dismissal. Hence, the baby-faced Bashir signaled the T sign for a review. Joe Root saw the hilarious side of it and laughed. He came to Bashir’s end to explain to the youngster that he’d been bowled. The commentators, too, had a big laugh at this incident.

This hilarious video has gone viral.

India have hammered England by a huge margin of an innings and 64 runs. India have extended their record of not losing a home series to 12 years now, the last home Test series loss coming to Alastair Cook’s side in 2012. No team has won even two Test matches in a series since then in India.

R Ashwin

The series had already been sealed in the fourth Test, and now India added more weight to their WTC points and ranking.

In England’s second innings, R Ashwin took his 36th Test five-wicket haul. Ashwin now sits with Richard Hadlee. Only Shane Warne (37) and Muralidaran (67) have more Test five-wicket hauls than Ashwin in Test cricket.

India’s next biggest challenge in Test cricket will be the tour of Australia at the end of the year.
