South African pacer Nandre Burger has been impressive in India’s first innings on Day 1 of the second Test match, claiming three wickets and engaging in a heated face-off with Indian batsman Virat Kohli.
Faceoff – Virat Kohli vs Nandre Burger

In the first Test of the IND vs SA series, Nandre Burger took seven wickets, getting three wickets in one inning and four in the other. Burger is a young left-arm fast bowler with great potential to boost South Africa’s bowling strength.
In addition to displaying his skills in the current IND vs SA series, Nandre Burger attempted to engage in sledging with Indian batsman Virat Kohli. The incident occurred in the third ball of the 15th over when Kohli had just entered the crease following the dismissal of Rohit Sharma.
Sledging is a skill that Virat Kohli excels at, making him one of the most aggressive players in international cricket. While Nandre Burger attempted to sledge Kohli and display aggression, former Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar cautioned Burger against doing so.
Gavaskar said on air, “Virat Kohli is the wrong man to do your aggression”.

In the ongoing Test against South Africa, the Indian cricket team took a commanding position by wrapping up the hosts for 55 runs in the first innings. Mohammed Siraj was the standout bowler, securing figures of 5/15, while Jasprit Bumrah and Mukesh Kumar contributed with two wickets each.
India started aggressively in response, with captain Rohit Sharma scoring 39 runs and Shubman Gill adding 36 runs. However, the team faced a setback with the dismissal of Yashasvi Jaiswal for a duck. At Tea, India stands at 111/4, with Virat Kohli and KL Rahul at the crease, leading by 56 runs.
The Indian team has a significant opportunity to win its first Test at Sahara Park Newlands and level the series at 1-1. The lead of 98 runs, achieved with contributions from Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and a stellar knock by Virat Kohli, places them in a favorable position. South Africa is currently trailing by 87 runs (at the time of writing this article).
