A video of former Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma has gone viral on social media in which he was asked whether he would play and captain another franchise. Rohit’s response has garnered him a lot of love and affection from the MI fans.

The major story of IPL 2024 so far has been that the five-time champions Mumbai Indians have failed to win any of their three matches so far – and remain the only winless side of the season hitherto. That this is happening under new captain Hardik Pandya puts more spotlight on them.

Moreover, with Rohit Sharma still being India’s captain in all formats and being in excellent touch with the bat, the scrutiny of Mumbai Indians’ decision to replace Rohit with Hardik as their leader is constantly increasing.

Amid this, a video from earlier of Rohit has gone viral in which he said that he will “never” captain any franchise against Mumbai Indians.

While this video is from a few years ago, now fans are wondering whether Rohit Sharma could really leave Mumbai Indians after being stripped off the captaincy unceremoniously.

Rohit Sharma started off the IPL 2024 campaign – his first season as a batsman since getting the captaincy 2013 – with a couple of fire-cracker knocks before bagging a duck against RR.

In three innings, Sharma has scored 69 runs at a strike rate of 164. The strike rate is excellent, though MI management and fans would hope for Rohit to increase the volume of his runs and not get out after getting starts. Because Rohit Sharma batting through the innings increases the chances of his team winning the match significantly.

Mumbai’s next match is against Rishabh Pant’s Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede stadium on Sunday.
