Virat Kohli Revealed What MS Dhoni Texted Him During His Tough Time

The Indian batting superstar Virat Kohli is in some terrific form right now, however, a few months back he was struggling to score runs. He has had a bizarre 2022. After giving up Test captaincy earlier in the year, Kohli went through a lean patch as he had a quiet IPL 2022 and a poor England tour across all three formats. However, he took a 6-week long break and came back all refreshed and was back to his best.

Virat made a stunning comeback

He made a blockbuster return by smashing a couple of half-centuries and his maiden T20I century in the Asia Cup 2022 before taking the omgoing T20 World Cup 2022 by storm. He played a match-winning knock against Pakistan in India's campaign opener. He has played some terrific performances, smashing a couple of more half-centuries. He is currently the leading run-getter in the tournament so far.

Kohli Revealed The Text He Received From MS Dhoni

Kohli revealed that MS Dhoni was the only one who reached out to him during his tough times - when he left Test captaincy of India and months later. Speaking on RCB Podcast to Danish Sait, Kohli said: "The only person who genuinely reached out to me was MS Dhoni. For me, that is such a blessing to know that I could have a such a strong bond and relationship with someone who is so senior to me. It's more like a friendship based on a lot of mutual respect, and that's one of the things he mentioned in the same message reaching out to me. It was, 'when you are expected to be strong and looked at as a strong individual, people forget to ask you how you are doing',”

Kohli expressed how he felt during the lean patch

β€œIt hit home to me. I was like, 'this is it'. I have always been looked at like someone who is very confident, very mentally strong, who can endure any situation and circumstance, find a way and show us the way. Sometimes, what you realise is that at any given time, you really need to take a couple of steps back and understand how you are doing, how your well-being is,”
