When Rohit Sharma Used To Live In A Small House With 7 Others

India’s cricketing sensation, Rohit Sharma, is about to embark on a historic journey as he takes the helm of the national cricket team for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, marking his debut as the captain. With this new role comes tremendous pressure, but Rohit is finding solace in the team’s current excellent form. Unlike many who tend to overthink, Rohit’s calm demeanor stems from his ability to keep things simple as India inches closer to the coveted World Cup trophy.

When Rohit Sharma Used To Live In A Small House With 7 Others:

From Mumbai’s Maidans to International Stardom

Rohit Sharma, the 36-year-old batting maestro, has traveled a long and challenging path from his early days playing cricket in the bustling maidans of Bombay. His journey has been riddled with hardships, particularly on the financial front, as his parents grappled with economic challenges. In a candid interview with the English daily Indian Express, Rohit recounted his humble beginnings, recalling how he left his parents’ house in Dombivli at a tender age to live with his grandparents in Borivali.

A Glimpse into Humble Beginnings

Rohit painted a vivid picture of his modest home, which barely accommodated eight people. In that cramped space, even while sleeping, he felt the need for physical contact, whether it was with another person or the room’s wall. “I would curl up. I had a thing, I had to touch someone or something with my leg. I would sleep towards the wall, my leg touching it. Else, I can’t sleep,” shared Rohit.

A Sacrifice for Success

Acknowledging the financial struggles faced by their son, Rohit’s grandfather proposed a solution to his father, saying, “Rohit ko idhar chhod de, aur chhote wale ko leke ja apne sath (leave Rohit with us and take the little one with you).” This decision led to Rohit residing in Borivali while his parents and brother remained in Dombivli, which was 50 kilometers away. Their living conditions were far from lavish, confined to a cramped 100-square-foot house that housed eight family members.

The Rise to Wealth and Fame

Fast forward to today, Rohit Sharma’s net worth stands at an impressive Rs 248 crore, according to reports. This significant wealth has been amassed through various avenues, including match fees, IPL earnings, and lucrative brand endorsements. Rohit’s extravagant car collection alone is valued at around Rs 8.25 crore, featuring prestigious vehicles such as the Lamborghini Urus (Rs 4.18 crore) and the Skoda Laura (Rs 12.5 lakh).

The Self-Made Cricketer

Rohit Sharma attributes his success to unwavering determination and tireless effort. He proudly declares himself a self-made man who had the invaluable support of a loving family, devoted friends, and exceptional coaches throughout his journey. His illustrious career boasts numerous achievements, yet one trophy still eludes him—the ODI World Cup. This elusive silverware serves as Rohit’s driving force and motivation as he prepares to lead India on the grand stage of the World Cup.

Rohit Sharma’s remarkable ascent from a modest upbringing to leading the Indian cricket team in the World Cup is a testament to his resilience, dedication, and unwavering pursuit of excellence. As he shoulders the responsibility of captaincy, the dream of clinching the ODI World Cup remains a burning desire, one that continues to propel him forward in the world of cricket.
