For The Ones Who Questioned Ravichandran Ashwin’s Commitment To The Nation – Think! A Controversial Note

A few days ago when Ravichandran Ashwin announced that he was not going to take any further part in the third Test, there was a section of fans who questioned why Ravichandran Ashwin should be saying out things loud instead of hiding behind the masquerade of family urgency. Yesterday, in the final session of the third Test, the return of Ashwin bloomed smiles on the faces of many Indian fans, eventually broadening them with the wicket of Tom Hartley.

This is a note to all the respected fans who believed that the sudden departure of Ashwin should have been met with criticism considering the fact that he left in the midst of a Test match. In fact, a few deemed him as one who is only looking for fame and glory and now that it was received with the 500-mark milestone, he could take a breather.

Here’s the catch though, do you even know why did he leave? His mum was sick and was in a life and death situation. When your mother of all is sick, no matter where you are, possibly you will let that go and storm onto your own house to take care of the most beloved human being for you on the planet.

For the ones who believed that Ashwin is liable to answer to all the fans, let’s just say that there are things on heaven and earth closer to your heart than your fame. Nothing replaces the love for your mother. No matter how big a star is, at the end of the day, the one who brought you up, the strongest bond on the planet, no matter of fame can replace that.

It is understandable that you also have a responsibility towards your fans but not ahead of your parents. Guess what fans, Ash was right back in the mix as soon as the emergency was taken care of. That is the true nature of a hero. It is not easy to have the balance and neither does everyone has the opportunity to live a life where you can take care of your mother and then come back to represent your nation in a high-octane encounter.

For the ones who still believe that Ashwin plays for personal milestones, maybe and just maybe rethink. Think before you say. He is a human too and a gem of a cricketer as well.
