Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter has come with almost everyday of chaos and frequent announcements on the famous micro-blogging site.
Musk, the Tesla CEO and the richest man in the world, has introduced a mandatory payment for people and organizations to keep the tick. He has, though, has segregated the tick into three types: Gold, Grey, and Blue, instead of just the blue tick it had been before his takeover.
Fans left in shock after BCCI’s account gets Gold tick

On December 13, Tuesday, the Indian cricket fans woke up with a new news of the official BCCI Twitter handle getting a Gold tick.
Fans would have also checked on other ticked accounts, but only a few, including Harsha Bhogle, the renowned Indian commentator, had a Gold tick and most had the regular Blue tick.
So why is it that the BCCI Twitter account got a Gold tick?
According to the new Twitter policy, Gold tick has been allotted to only verified companies or official business accounts; Grey to verified government accounts onlu while the regular blue is for individuals – celebrity or regular who all would pay $8 per month after Musk’s takeover.
Last month, Elon Musk himself made it clear with an announcement. “Sorry for the delay, we’re tentatively launching Verified on Friday next week. Gold check for companies, grey check for government, blue for individuals (celebrity or not) and all verified accounts will be manually authenticated before check activates,” Musk tweeted.
Since BCCI doesn’t fall under the Indian government’s purview – BCCI is a private and autonomous, body and doesn’t answer to the National Sports Federation of India – and hence it has been given a Gold tick and not Blue. On the other hand, the Sports Authority of India’s (SAI) official account has a blue tick.
Also, if you are thinking, Harsha Bhogle has a Gold tick, we believe, it is because he owns the website harshabhogle.com, as endorsed on his Twitter account.
