[IND vs BAN] Here's Why Virat Kohli Apologizes To Ravindra Jadeja After Winning PoTM

Indian batting superstar Virat Kohli played a sensational knock against Bangladesh as he helped the Indian cricket team register their 4th win of the ongoing World Cup 2023. He smashed his 48th ODI century during a game against Bangladesh at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Thursday, October 19.

Chasing a total of 257 runs, Virat Kohli walked out to bat after the dismissal of Rohit Sharma, who also played a crucial knock and gave a good start to the Indian side. While Rohit Sharma played a quickfire 40-ball 48 knock, on the other hand, Shubman Gill scored a smooth 53 off 55 deliveries, registering his maiden fifty in the World Cup. The duo stitched together 88 runs before Rohit Sharma got out.

He joined forces with KL Rahul and the duo together smashed the Bangladesh bowlers to all the corners of the ground. Kohli stitched up an 83-run partnership with KL Rahul to help India clinch the win. Kohli remained unbeaten till the very end and guided the Indian cricket team to a comprehensive 7-wicket victory over the Bangla Tigers.

Kohli played a powerful knock of 103 runs off 97 balls as he completed the chase for Team India. His sensational knock was laced with 6 fours and 4 sixes.

Meanwhile, later, after the match, a commentator told Virat Kohli that he stole the Player of the Match award from Ravindra Jadeja as they were planning to give the award to the star all-rounder for his exceptional bowling and fielding earlier but after his brilliant century, it wasn’t possible.

Reacting to this, Virat said:

“Sorry for stealing it (PoTM award) from Jaddu, I wanted to make a big contribution. I have had a few fifties in World Cups, haven’t really converted them. I just wanted to finish the game off this time around and hang on till the end which is what I have done over the years for the team.”

Virat Kohli had made a stunning start to his innings and he scored 14 runs in just one ball, thanks to Hasan Mahmud’s lack of discipline. Speaking about the same, he said:

“I was telling Shubman, even if you dream about a situation like that, you’ll just go back to sleep, you won’t think it’s real. It was a dream start for me, first four balls, two free-hits, a six and a four. Just calms you down gets you into the innings.”

“I wanted to make a big contribution. I’ve had a few fifties in World Cups and haven’t converted them so I just wanted to finish the game off this time around and hang around to the end, which is what I’ve done over the years for the team.”
