[IND vs PAK] Will India Wear The Saffron Jersey Against Pakistan?

Over the last couple of days, there have been rumors about the BCCI pondering hard over the idea of Team India players wearing saffron or orange-colored jerseys for their World Cup 2023 match against Pakistan.

Men in Blue will take on Babar Azam’s Pakistan side on October 14 in the biggest, marquee clash of the group stage of the tournament. This mouth-watering, much-awaited, and super-hyped-up encounter is set to take place on October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. It is believed that over 1 lakh fans and even more than that will be seated at the Narendra Modi Stadium, which can house around 130,000 fans for this epic clash.

Reports in multiple news websites and outlets have rumored in the past couple of days that the BCCI will tell Men in Blue players to wear saffron, or orange, jerseys for their game against Pakistan in the IND vs PAK game. It was also learned that the BCCI will then auction the saffron t-shirts and the kit to collect funds for UNESCO or for other charity organizations.

No. The BCCI Treasurer Ashish Shelar has quashed these rumors and confirmed that India will wear their regular blue color attire against Pakistan.

Ashish Shelar, Honorary Treasurer of BCCI said, as quoted by The Indian Express, “We categorically dismiss the media reports that India will be donning an alternative match kit against Pakistan. These reports are absolutely baseless & work of someone’s imagination. The Men in Blue will sport India colours – Blue at ICC Cricket World Cup 2023”.

India have recently changed their training kits from regular blue to orange. So this rumor took spark among the fans. But they will play in their regular blue kit against Pakistan in Ahmedabad.

During the 2019 World Cup in England, Team India had wore orange-colored attire for their game against England. That was the second kit of India in that tournament, however, they never donned those jerseys again.

Pakistan won their opening World Cup match against the Netherlands in Hyderabad. India started their tournament against Australia in Chennai.
