Mumbai Indians are given a big scare as their expensive IPL auction signing, not just from the IPL 2023 auction but in their entire history, Cameron Green, recently got an injury in his finger while playing in the Boxing Day Test against South Africa at the MCG.
The five-time champions had splashed out INR 17.5 crore at the IPL 2023 auction for Cameron Green, making the 23-year-old Australian all-rounder the second-most expensive player in the IPL history only behind Sam Curran, who was bought for INR 18.5 crore by Punjab Kings in the same auction.
Green was struck on his right index finger from a fast delivery from Protea paceman Anrich Nortje and retired hurt on that day, but returned to bat the next morning and compiled a half-century.
Cameron Green has been ruled out of the Sydney Test against South Africa at the start of the new year. He flew home to Perth on Thursday while the game was still going to recover from a broken index finger.
Has Cameron Green been ruled out of the IPL 2023?

Not yet. At the moment, Green will only miss the SCG Test against South Africa. It has been learned that he could even get fit in a month’s time and would be available for the 4 Test series in India, starting February 9.
“You try to not show the pain straightaway,” Green told cricket.com.au. “I marked my guard again and walked a couple of steps, and I was like ‘I reckon my finger is out of place here’. I checked on it — it looked a little bit inverted is the only way I can explain it. It already had a big cut in it, then I got the bad news after the scan.”
“I’m going to do as much as I can to get it right and try to go to India. A lot of people talk about the tour to India, how tough it is mentally and physically. It’s going to be a massive tour for us. We’re as best prepared as we’re ever going to be, so (I’m) looking forward to it,” added the 23-year-old.
Just three days after being bought for INR 17.5 crore by MI in the IPL 2023 auction, Cameron Green took a five-wicket haul at the MCG against South Africa. He became the first Australian in four years to hit a fifty and take a five-for in the same Test.
Apart from Green, Mumbai Indians’ fans would also be happy seeing the returns of Jofra Archer and Jasprit Bumrah in the coming weeks.
