Will Jasprit Bumrah Play In T20 World Cup 2022? Rahul Dravid Finally Answered The Big Question

The Indian cricket team suffered a major blow ahead of the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 as India’s sensational bowler Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the marquee event because of a back injury. . The right-arm pacer was part of the Indian squad for their ongoing three-match T20I series against the Proteas but was ruled out ahead of the first game on Wednesday after picking a niggle. He was rushed to Bangaluru for scans on his back on Wednesday. The reports of the scans are awaited to be accessed.

A BCCI official had told PTI that Bumrah has a stress fracture and could be out of action for months. “Bumrah is not going to play the World T20 for sure. He has a serious back condition. It’s a stress fracture and he could be out for a period of six months,” a senior BCCI official told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

He had complained of back pain during India’s practice session on Tuesday. He was then assessed by the BCCI’s medical team and was then ruled out of the first game. He recently made his comeback to the Indian team after recovering from a back injury. He was a part of the 3-match T20I series against Australia, where he played in two games and picked only one wicket. He didn’t look in his best shape during the series and also turned out to be expensive for India, after having conceded 50 runs in the 3rd T20I without picking a single wicket.

Meanwhile, ever since the news of Bumrah being ruled out of the T20 World Cup 2022 came out, social media has been buzzing with reactions from fans and experts. The BCCI also came down under the scanner of criticism for not managing players’ work schedules properly.

Jasprit Bumrah

Amidst all this, India’s head coach Rahul Dravid has finally talked about Jasprit Bumrah and his injury. Dravid revealed that it will take a few days to know whether Bumrah will be available to play in the T20 World Cup 2022. He said:

“So, as of now, officially he has been ruled out of the T20 series against South Africa. He has gone to the NCA and we are waiting for an official confirmation on the next steps. As of now, officially he is only ruled out of this series, and we will see what happens in the next 2-3 days but once we get an official confirmation, then we will be able to share that,”

He added: “Like I said, I don’t go deeply into the medical reports, I rely on the experts to tell me what it is. They ruled him out of this series and he is being assessed. You will know in due course what happens in the future. Till the time he is not officially ruled out, we will always be hopeful and we will hope for the best,”
