The Indian cricket team is all set to lock horns with West Indies in the upcoming limited-overs series that will consist of three ODIs and as many T20I matches in February this year. As the fans were waiting anxiously for the series to begin, many expected that former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri will return back to the commentary box, however, that is not the case.

Ravi Shastri is considered to be one of the best commentators to have ever lent his voice in the game of cricket. Shastri has been on-air behind the microphone during some of the most memorable wins of the Indian cricket team over the years, including the finals of ICC World T20 in 2007 and the 2011 ODI World Cup.

Ravi Shastri's 'best' is not good enough

However, he had to give up commentary after he took the full-time duties of the head coach of the Indian cricket team in 2017. However, he was expected to make an immediate return after his tenure as the Indian head coach ended last year has decided not to make a return to the commentary box for upcoming India’s home season.

Ravi Shastri is currently in Oman as the commissioner of the ongoing Legends League Cricket in Muscat. If sources are to be believed then he will also not do the commentary during the series between India and Sri Lanka that will take place in February-March.

“He has taken a conscious decision not to take up commentary immediately, at least till the IPL. He has a lot on the table and for two more months he will remain busy. He will think over it after that,” sources close to Shastri told The Times of India.
