Ahead of the upcoming four-match Test series, the Indian cricket team has received a good piece of news in Australia on their destructive batsman Rohit Sharma.

Rohit Sharma, who is currently rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy, has a good chance of boarding the flight to Australia on December 12 post clearing his fitness test. Rohit had to miss the ongoing limited-overs series of the ongoing series due to a hamstring injury he faced while playing for his team Mumbai Indians in the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League.

Sources at the NCA told India Today that Rohit is recovering well from the injury and has a good chance of boarding the flight to Australia on December 12 post clearing his fitness test. The source revealed that he is “much, much better” and is now working on losing weight to get leaner at the National Cricket Academy.

Besides his rehab from the hamstring injury, Rohit Sharma is also focusing on strength building at the NCA and if all goes well, he will board the flight to Australia on Dec 12 post clearing his fitness test. Later, he will be placed in a 14-day hard mandatory quarantine after his arrival in Australia.

After a week of training, Rohit is expected to feature in the 3rd Test, which will kickstart at the Sydney Cricket Ground on January 7.

Will Rohit Sharma Play In Test Series? Here’s The Answer

Rohit Sharma’s availability is key to team India’s chances of making a mark in the Test series as the Indian skipper Virat Kohli won’t be available for the last three Test matches as he will be returning home after the first test match – a day-night fixture in Adelaide, starting December 17- to be with his wife and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma for the birth of their first child.

Meanwhile, after losing the ODI series by 1-2, team India has now successfully sealed the T20I series by an unbeatable 2-0 lead. Now team India will be looking forward to cleaning sweep as they look forward into the Test series.
