Sourav Ganguly on IPL 2021 Auctions: The ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League has turned out to be one of the most exciting seasons ever in the history of this league. All eight teams were seen struggling hard to make it to the playoffs. Also, this is the first time that teams like Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals have finished last on the points table with 12 points each in their kitty.

As the ongoing IPL 2020 is heading towards its end, fans are already waiting for the next season. The franchises are now well aware of the star players and shortcomings of their squads. They will be looking forward to a mega auction later this year.

However, earlier there were reports that the mega auction that was scheduled to take place before the start of IPL 2021 is likely to get scrapped because of COVID-19.

Though no official statements were announced by the BCCI. Clearing the air regarding the same, BCCI’s president Sourav Ganguly revealed that the board is yet to take a final call on whether there will be a mini-auction or mega auction ahead of IPL 2021.

“We haven’t decided anything yet. Let this season conclude, we will take a call,”

Furthermore, Ganguly said that the BCCI is keen to host the IPL 2021 in India if the COVID-19 situation Improves in the country. On being asked whether the next season will be hosted in India, Ganguly said:

“Hopefully the vaccine will be out by that time and we can host it,”

Meanwhile, the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League will begin in April or May next year. The BCCI will keep UAE as a back-up option for IPL 2021.
