Pakistan’s banned off-spinner has been included in Pakistan’s provisional World Cup squad of 30 players but it is subject to him clearing the informal biomechanics test in the United Kingdom.

Saeed Ajmal’s action was reported during the first Test against Sri Lanka at Galle in August, and later he was banned after failing a biomechanics test ordered by the ICC. Since then, Ajmal has been working hard on getting his action right.

Saeed Ajmal told reporters on Monday (11/11/2014) that he is hopeful of clearing the biomechanics test and returning back to international cricket.

“I have worked very hard on removing chinks in my action and once this stage is cleared I am sure I will resume playing international cricket again soon,” Ajmal said.

Earlier, Saeed Ajmal had worked with former Pakistan spinner and the inventor of doosra Saqlain Mushtaq, to get his action right. Ajmal was also working at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore.

Although, Pakistani selectors have included Saeed Ajmal in the 30 players provisional squad, but if he doesn’t clear the test then he will not be part of the provisional squad for the World Cup 2015. Saeed Ajmal has been Pakistan’s ace bowler and his return will boost their chances before the all-important World Cup 2015. Earlier, Ajmal had said that he has worked very hard on his action, and he will be more “lethal” with improved action.

Talking about the 30 players provisional squad, there are reports suggesting that Pakistan have also included Shoaib Malik and Kamran Akmal. Pakistan’s star Test batsman Younis Khan has also been included in the squad, after his spectacular show in the Test series against Australia in UAE.

Pakistan’s fast bowler Umar Gul is recovering from an injury and a fitness test will be held before the December 7 deadline.
