World Cup 2015: Brendon McCullum writes an open letter to Indian fans ahead of final

New Zealand’s skipper Brendon McCullum has written a letter to Indian cricket fans on the eve of final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Brendon McCullum is well aware that Indian fans are bitter after their team’s defeat to Australia in the semifinals, and there has been a groundswell of support in India for New Zealand. The semifinal loss has just exacerbated an India-Australia rivalry that goes back close to two decades.

Here is the letter, released by PUMA on behalf of McCullum:

To every cricket fan in India,

I know you understand the hunger for a World Cup.

And I had already seen a wave of support from you guys towards us.

Thank you!

We need every bit of it and I request your support towards NZ all the way, through away, in the final.

It’s the biggest game of our career and over a billion voices rooting for us will definitely count.

Australia are favourite to win the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 and Brendon McCullum will certainly need all the luck against the mighty Aussies in their own backyard. New Zealand have been accustomed to the small grounds at home, but the MCG is a giant. New Zealand will find it tough to clear the fence, and this has been one of their main strategies to intimidate the opposition.

This letter will surely pump-up the Indian cricket fans to come out and support the Black Caps in the all important final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.
