Afghanistan’s fast bowler Hamid Hassan, who is aka Rambo, has revealed that he used to play cricket secretly. Hamid said that he kept his cricket career as a secret and didn’t tell his parents about it because his parents wanted him to devote more time in studies.

Hamid, who is one of the most popular cricketers of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, was forced to leave his hometown Jalalabad in order to escape the bombs and took refuge in Peshawar. Hamid has taken 7 wickets in 4 matches of the ICC cricket World Cup 2015.

“I spent 15-16 years there, studied in an Afghan high school and I saw cricket first hand and fell in love with cricket,” Hamid said.

Admitting that his parents wanted him to devote more time to his studies, Hassan said that they didn’t allow him to play cricket so he hid playing cricket with his youngsters and mates, Stuff.co.nz reported

“They didn’t allow me to play cricket so I hid playing cricket with my youngsters and mates,” Hassan said.

“My elder brother, he supported me a lot during that period,” he added.

However, Hamid’s passion and love for the game won and he is now one of the best players in Afghanistan’s cricket team.

Hamid’s aggressive fast bowling, his Rambo-like appearance on the field and his famous cartwheel celebration has made him a very popular face in the world of cricket.
