India, the defending champions, sealed their place in the quarter finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 with a close run chase against West Indies at the WACA. India’s captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni played a match-winning of 45 runs on a pitch that had a lot of juice in it for the fast bowlers.

Here are the stats of the match:

1) Chris Gayle has now played 20 One Day International (ODI) against India without scoring a hundred. The big Jamaican scored 21 runs off 27 balls. Gayle’s last ODI hundred against India came in 2006, when he scored a 130-ball 123 in Kingston.

2) This is India’s 8th straight victory at the ICC Cricket World Cup, a streak which began against the West Indies in 2011. India are undefeated in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 so far. If the team goes undefeated, there will be an increase of $25,000

3) Indian openers struggled to get going on the fast WACA pitch. India managed to score only 12 runs in their first five overs. This is India’s lowest score in the first 5 overs against the West Indies since 2001 and their lowest while chasing a score.

4) This was Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s 150th international win as India’s captain.

5) Dhoni averages 105.14 while chasing in ODIs. This is the highest average for any batsman in ODIs in successful chases. Dhoni is the only batsman to have recorded an average of 100-plus in successful chase.

6) This match was Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s 174th game as Indian captain. This is the joint highest number of matches for an Indian skipper. Mohammad Azharuddin also captained India 174 ODIs.

7) With 59 wins in 111 away ODI matches, Mahendra Singh Dhoni is now India’s most successful captain in overseas ODIs. Sourav Ganguly had won 58 out of the 110 away ODIs as India’s captain.

8) West Indies captain Jason Holder (57 off 64 balls) posted his highest score in ODIs.

9) Mohammed Shami has taken 49 wickets at an average of 21.83 in 23 ODIs. This is the highest tally by any bowler in ODIs since January 2014.

10) Jason Holder and Jerome Taylor’s stand of 51 runs is now the highest ninth wicket partnership for West Indies in World Cups.

11) India have now won four consecutive matches in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. This is India’s best ever start in World Cups.

12) Both India and New Zealand remain unbeaten in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, having won four games each.
