World Cup 2015: New Zealand announce 30-man squad; no place for Jesse Ryder

New Zealand have announced the preliminary 30-man squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 as required by the tournament regulations. The 30-man squad announced by New Zealand has lots of young names and all members of the squad have previously played for New Zealand.

New Zealand are a very well balanced team and considering the home advantage,  they will enter the 2015 World Cup as one of the favorites.

New Zealand have omitted their attacking batsman Jesse Ryder. Ryder is not in the 30-man squad and he is not going to be included in the 15.

“When he pulled out he left us with no real information about him and as a result we didn’t have enough conviction to warrant his selection,” New Zealand’s chief selector Bruce Elgar told Fairfax Media.

New Zealand’s 30-man squad also includes their veteran all-rounder Daniel Vettori. Vettori have been going through lots of injury problems and the World Cup 2015 will be his international swansong.

Although, New Zealand have named many young and uncapped players in their 30-man squad, the final 15 looks pretty much decided. The Kiwi squad that is playing against Pakistan in UAE will most probably be the final squad for the World Cup 2015.

As expected, New Zealand have named Brendon McCullum as their captain.

The World Cup starts on February 14 and runs until March 29.

New Zealand will name its final World Cup squad of 15 next month and only players named in the larger squad will be considered.

NEW ZEALAND’S 30-MAN PRELIMINARY SQUAD:

Corey Anderson, Hamish Bennett, Trent Boult, Doug Bracewell, Neil Broom, Dean Brownlie, Colin de Grandhomme, Anton Devcich, Grant Elliott, Andrew Ellis, James Franklin, Martin Guptill, Matt Henry, Roneel Hira, Tom Latham, Mitchell McClenaghan, Brendon McCullum, Nathan McCullum, Kyle Mills, Adam Milne, Colin Munro, James Neesham, Rob Nicol, Luke Ronchi, Hamish Rutherford, Tim Southee, Ross Taylor, Daniel Vettori, B.J. Watling, Kane Williamson.
