From 69 for 4 after 14 overs, Ravindra Jadeja (44 from 28) and MS Dhoni (35 off 16) took Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to 155 for 6 against Perth Scorchers. Ravindra Jadeja, who’s known more for his left-arm orthodox spin than his batting, played a very attacking knock of 44 runs off 28 balls. Ravindra Jadeja, in the last 12 months or so, has improved a lot as a batsman.

In the ongoing Champions League Twenty20 2015 (CLT20 2015), Ravindra Jadeja has been in a great batting form. In the match against Dolphins, Ravindra Jadeja scored 2 sixes on the first two balls that he faced and played a scintillating knock of 40 runs off 14 balls. Jadeja played some powerful shots the down the ground and took no time in get going. In the last 12 months or so, Jadeja has worked very hard on his batting, especially power-hitting. Jadeja bats at number 6 or 7, and his job is mostly to score quick runs and finish the match for his team.

Initially, Ravinder Jadeja struggled as a batsman at the international level because he didn’t have the ability to clear the ground and score quick runs. Due to this limitation, he started his international career more as a bowling all-rounder. But now, after playing international cricket for more than 4 years, Ravnidra Jadeja has slowly transformed himself into a complete all-rounder, in limited overs cricket. In the ODI series against England, Ravindra Jadeja batted brilliantly and showed that he can be a reliable force in India’s lower-order. His knock of 87 off 87 balls in the 5th ODI was just great to watch. Although, he couldn’t finish the match for India, his ability to handle the pressure and counter-attack, received a lot of praise.

As a batsman, Ravindra Jadeja is peaking at the right time. The preparations for the all important Cricket World Cup 2015 are now in the last stages, and all the teams are finalizing on their squads. If Jadeja keeps batting the way he has been batting off late, he will add more value to India’s batting order, and allow hitters like MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina to bat a lot more freely.
