Earlier, International Cricket Council (ICC) launched an online campaign ‘Your Greatest World Cup XI’, which allows fans a unique chance to pick their greatest cricketers from the previous ten editions of the event.

Mathew Hayden’s greatest World Cup XI comprises of four Australians Adam Gilchrist, Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath and Ricky Ponting. These four Australian players have a great record in World Cup cricket.

Mathew Hayden has also picked West Indies’ legend and one of the greatest batsmen ever, Brian Lara.

In the bowling department, Mathew Hayden has picked Muttiah Muralitharan, Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram in his all time greatest World Cup XI.

South African legend and one of the best all-rounders in the history of the game, Jacques Kallis, is the only all-rounder in Hayden’s greatest World Cup XI.

Mathew Hayden has picked a very star-studded and well balanced World Cup XI. Virender Sehwag’s inclusion is a very interesting pick by Mathew Hayden. Sehwag and Hayden have very similar approach towards batting. Sehwag’s ability to provide an aggressive start at the top of the batting-order is a big asset for any team.
