A group of people are going on a silent march in Bangalore on Saturday against English news channel Times Now after their unfair coverage of India’s exit at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. . A group called Namma Bengaluru South have organised his rally, which will start from the Mahatma Gandhi statue to the M. Chinnaswamy Stadiwum, roughly covering about four kilometers. Many Indian supporters are expected to join this rally.
The Editor-in-Chief of India’s leading English news channel, Arnab Goswami, conducted one of the most unfair and embarrassing debates to on his prime time show The News Hour, to discuss India’s exit from the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. Some of the most absurd and illogical questions were asked on the show and describing India’s loss to Australia in the semi-final of the ICC World Cup 2015 as ‘shameful’, Times Now and Arnab Goswami made a mockery of everything MS Dhoni and his men achieved at the mega event.
India’s captain MS Dhoni and vice captain Virat Kohli were insulted so much on the show that former India player Atul Wassan, who was one of the panelists, threatened to walk out of the discussion if Indian players are being humiliated on national television, but the channel was relentless in their pursuit to degrade Dhoni and Kohli.
Times Now also ran ticker that read ‘Did the dropped catch clearly show Kohli was feeling the pressure?’, ‘Did Suresh Raina get carried away and gift his wicket’. Arnab Goswami and Times Now insisted that Virat Kohli should apologise to the nation for playing a bad shot. This was surely the most illogical and nonsensical arguments one will ever get to hear. And this also proves that the producers and anchor asking this question have no idea about the game of cricket.
Asking a player to apologise for playing a bad shot is surely a new low in cricket journalism.
The channel also used very strong words to criticse MS Dhoni for “mocking” the media after he was questioned on his retirement, while the Indian skipper was only trying to accept the defeat gracefully and answer the question in a light-hearted manner.
