World Cup 2015: This Is Why Virat Kohli Got Out Early In The Semi Final Against Australia

Indians are very serous about their cricket and they HATE losing. In the semi final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 between India and Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), India’s star batsman Virat Kohli failed to make runs and got out very early in the innings, which led to a lot of pressure on the middle order. Kohli played 13 balls and scored just 1 run. His dismissal broke billions of hearts in India as they all were relying on him to step-up on the big day and play a match winning knock.

Johnson. Short ball. Kohli. Pull. Catch. Tears!

But, Kohli couldn’t deliver and he top edged one short delivery by Mitchell Johnson straight into the hands of Brad Haddin.

Virat Kohli was insulted by India’s “most-watched” news anchor on the “leading” English channel and he was even asked to apologise to the nation for playing a bad shot.

The story doesn’t end here. Virat Kohli’s girlfriend Anushka Sharma, who came all the way to Sydney to support him and Team India, was blamed for Kohli’s dismissal as many believed her presence “distracted” Kohli and that is why he played a lose shot.

Virat Kohli was made to look a villain and Anushka Sharma got all the abuses for supporting her boyfriend and Team India.

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly slammed fans and media for blaming Anushka Sharma for Kohli’s failure in the semi final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, by saying:

“What wrong Anushka has done? She had only gone to see a cricket match like the families of other players. It is unfair to blame him for Kohli’s performance. It is the immaturity of people (criticising Anushka),” said the former captain.

“When two people are in love, there is nothing wrong in that,” Ganguly added

India’s skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni also defended Kohli by saying:

“Pehli baat yeh hai ki til ka taad nahin banate hain (Let’s not make a mountain out of a mole hill). Let’s accept the fact that he played a shot that didn’t pay off. It happens and it happens to a lot of batsmen,”
