The International Cricket Council (ICC) today confirmed that TV umpire communication during decision-making will be aired live for the knockout stage of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.

This move has been initiated to make the process of decision-making even more transparent as this allow the viewers to have better understanding, specially in the case of controversial decisions.

The ICC held a successful trial during the ODI series between Australia and South Africa in November last year, and it will be introduced for the final seven matches of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015; four quarters, two semi-finals and the final. The umpire communications will be aired during umpire referrals, consultations and DRS player reviews.

With the first quarter-final between Sri Lanka and South Africa scheduled to begin tomorrow at the Sydney Cricket Ground, the audio feed of the on-field officials with the third umpire will be made available to the host broadcasters Star Sports, said a media release.
