[World Cup 2023] How Much Money Will The Winner Receive From The ICC?

The World Cup 2023 got underway this week with New Zealand defeating England in a thumping fashion by 9 wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Youngster Rachin Ravindra and senior batsman Devon Conway, both playing in their debut ODI World Cups, slammed centuries to romp New Zealand home in a run-chase of 283 runs with 9 wickets in hand and 13.4 overs to spare, shooting their NRR high and burying England’s NRR.

The tournament has gotten off to a fantastic start with that England vs New Zealand encounter which was attended by about 35k-40k fans in the stadium.

The 45-day tournament will run from October 5 to the final day on November 19, with the final also slated to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Fans are eager to know the prize money that the winner of the World Cup 2023 will receive and other rewards for the awards. We have got you covered in this article.

What is the prize money for the winner of the World Cup 2023?

The winning team of the World Cup 2023 will receive a whopping $4 million (INR 33 crore approx) from the ICC while the runner-up will get $2 million (INR 16 crore approx). The two losing semi-finalists will each get $800,000 (INR 6 crore).

Further, the 6 teams that won’t be able to make the semi-finals will each receive $100,000 (INR 83 lakhs) from the ICC.

There are incentive for winning each game, which means even if a team is knocked out of the semi-final race early on, they can still win prize money for any win they get. For every win in the group stage, the winning team will get $40,000 per victory, and if the match is washed out, the money will be shared.

The ICC confirmed that a whopping $10 million (INR 83 crore) prize money will be distributed among the 10 teams participating in the World Cup 2023 in India.

All 10 teams will meet each other once in the group stage. The top 4 teams will proceed to the semi-finals, that is the knockout round. The final will be played on November 19.
