The ICC World Cup 2023 will kick-start on October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The same venue will also host the final, slated for November 19.

The ICC on Friday revealed the amount of money that it will distribute among the teams at the 10-team tournament in India.

The ICC confirmed that a whopping $10 million prize money will be distributed among the 10 teams participating in the ICC Men’s World Cup 2023 in India.

The format for this year’s tournament is the same as it was in the 2019 World Cup in England. In the group stage, the 10 sides will compete with each other once in a round-robin format. The top 4 teams will proceed to the semi-finals. The tournament will have 45 group stage matches, plus two semi-finals and a final, and it will span across 46 days.

This is the first time that India are solely hosting the entire ODI World Cup – the ODI WC was previously hosted twice in the subcontinent – in 1996 and 2011 – but then Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh were co-hosts at different points.

Details of prize money for WC 2023:

How much prize money will the winner and runner-up of World Cup 2023 get?

The team winning the World Cup 2023 trophy will receive $4 million from the ICC while the runner-up will get $2 million. The two losing semi-finalist teams will each get $800,000. The 6 teams that won’t be able to make the semi-finals will each receive $100,000 from the ICC.

Also, there is prize money to be given to the winner of every match. Yes, for every win in the group stage, the winning team will get $40,000 per victory.

All this makes up for the pot of $10 million in prize money from the ICC to be distributed in the World Cup 2023.

Here is the breakdown of ICC World Cup 2023 prize money:
