[World Cup 2023] 3 Indian Origin Players Who Are Playing For Other Teams

It would be fair to say that there is nowhere around the world as much of a passionate cricket following as it is in India. The country with 1.5 billion population is now hosting the World Cup 2023, and the fans are excited to host the superstars of world cricket.

What the fans are also keenly keeping an eye on are the players who are of Indian origin and will be playing for other teams and even against India.

There are numerous cases of cricketers who have left India for various purposes and then went on to represent their new country in international cricket. There are a few cricketers currently playing in the World Cup 2023 who were either born in India or have Indian origin.

3 famous players of Indian origin playing for other teams in World Cup 2023:

Ish Sodhi

Ish Sodhi‘s real name is Inderbir Singh Sodhi, and he was born in Ludhiana, India, in 1992. He is an ethnic Punjabi and was born to Sikh parents who then moved to Papatoetoe in New Zealand when Ish was only four years old.

He began his cricket in New Zealand as a youngster and made his New Zealand international debut 2013 in Test cricket, and white-ball debuts followed after that. Sodhi has played in 19 Tests, picking 54 wickets, 49 ODIs picking 61 wickets, and 102 T20Is, picking 120 wickets.

Rachin Ravindra

23-year-old Rachin Ravindra has been in the headlines recently for his blockbuster start in the World Cup 2023. The New Zealand all-rounder cracked a thunderous century against England and then hit a fifty against New Zealand along with picking 2 wickets in 2 games.

Although Rachin Ravindra was born in Wellington, his parents belong to India. His father Ravi Krishnamurthy, a software architect, hails from Bangalore who then shifted to New Zealand. Krishnamurthy named his son on his two favorite cricketers, taking “Ra” from Rahul Dravid and “Chin” from Sachin Tendulkar.

Vikramjit Singh

Vikramjit Singh is an opener for the Netherlands team. He scored 52 runs against Pakistan in Hyderabad in the Netherlands’ first match of the tournament. Vikramjit Singh is a stylish 20-year-old right-handed batsman who made his Netherlands T20I debut in 2019 and ODI debut in 2022.

Vikramjit Singh was born in 2003 in Cheema Khurd in Punjab. His family settled in Netherlands when Vikramjit was 7 years old.
