Not many gave Afghanistan a chance in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, however, Afghanistan has silenced one and all with their terrific performances. Afghanistan cricketers were fired up for the big game against the 2019 champions England.

Rashid Khan Shared An Emotional Post For Fans

Riding on the sensational 80-run knock of Rahmanullah Gurbaz, the Afghanistan cricket team defeated Australia by a whopping 69 runs. This was just their second win in ODI World Cup history and their first over a Test-playing nation.

Afghanistan’s superstar player Rashid Khan was one of the chief architects of the win. He took the final wicket to fall as he cleaned up Mark Wood.

Later, Rashid took to his social media and final wicket to fall as he cleaned up Mark Wood. He stated that Delhi was truly full of “Dil walon ki”. He wrote:

“Delhi sach mein dil walon ki hai. A huge thank you to all the fans at the stadium who supported us and kept us going through out the game. And to all our supporters around the (world emoji), thank you for your love,”

Check out the Tweet:

Earlier, after being asked to bat first, the Afghanistan batters took on the English bowlers with Rahmanullah Gurbaz leading the charge with a 57-ball 80. Though, a collapse took place in between but Ikram Alikhil’s 66-ball 58, coupled with crucial cameos from Rashid and Mujeeb Ur Rahman saw the Afghans post a fighting 284.

Later, Rashid and Mujeeb took over with the ball and they were at their best. England batters had no answers for their heroics. Harry Brook waged a lone battle but he was dismissed for 61-ball 66 by a stunning delivery by Mujeeb. Eventually, the England cricket team fell short of 69 runs.
