World Cup 2023: Yuvraj Singh Points Out The Biggest Problem For India

Former Indian all-rounder and World Cup hero Yuvraj Singh opened up about India’s chances of winning the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 and he stated that he is ‘not sure, to be honest’ if India is going to win the ODI World Cup 2023 at home.

After suffering a horrible defeat at the World Test Championship Final 2023, the Indian cricket team will now host the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 at home and will look forward to winning the marquee tournament and ending their ICC trophy drought. It has to be noted that it was in 2013 under MS Dhoni‘s captaincy when the Indian cricket team won their last ICC trophy – ICC Champions Trophy. Ever since then, the Indian cricket team has been struggling to end their trophy drought.

Yuvraj Singh Points Out The Biggest Problem For India Ahead Of World Cup 2023

Yuvraj Singh World Cup

In a candid conversation on a YouTube channel, ‘Cricket Basu’, Yuvraj Singh expressed his disappointment. He gave an honest answer when he was asked about India’s 2023 World Cup chances. He said:

“I am actually not sure to be honest if they are going to win the World Cup, I can say like a patriot that India will win. I see a lot of concerns in the Indian team in the middle-order because of injuries. It is frustrating seeing them (India) not to win a world Cup but it is what it is,

Further, he also claimed that it’s the team combinations that have been letting the Indian squad down. He said:

We have a sensible captain, Rohit Sharma. They should get their combination right. We need a couple of games to get ready. We should have a pool of at least 20 players to pick a squad of 15 out of,”

He expressed that while the top order is fine, the problem lies in the middle order of the team, especially at numbers 4th and 5th. He said:

The top order is fine but the middle order needs to be sorted. Slots 4 and 5 are very important. If Rishabh Pant is batting fourth for the IPL franchise, then he should come in at number 4 even for the national squad. The number four batsman cannot be a flamboyant run-getter. He has to be someone who can absorb the pressure.”

Yuvraj Singh also pointed out that India can’t be in experimental mode while playing crucial games like the knock-out games. Asked about the ideal No.4, Yuvi suggested KL Rahul’s name and also backed Rinku Singh for the spot. He said:

“Rinku Singh was batting really well. I think he has the sense to create a partnership and retain that strike. It is too early. If you want him, you have to give him enough matches,”
