England cricketer Danielle Wyatt has been acquired by UP Warriorz for Rs. 30 Lakh in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction held in Mumbai.
Wyatt, an opening batter, has played 150 T20Is for England, scoring 2602 runs at an average of 22.23 and a strike rate of 127.42. Wyatt recently scored 75 runs off 47 balls, hitting two sixes and eight boundaries against India Women. England Women secured a 38-run victory in the opening game, taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series.

After joining UP Warriorz, Danielle Wyatt took to her social media and expressed her happiness via special Tweet. She retweeted a Tweet from the Women’s Premier League’s official Twitter handle and wrote:

It’s worth noting that the 32-year-old went unsold in the first edition of the WPL. Nevertheless, she has garnered attention with her impressive performances. After going unsold at the first auctions, Dani had tweeted:

Besides her heroics against India, Wyatt was the top run-scorer in The Hundred Women, earlier this year, accumulating 295 runs in nine games at a strike rate of 141.14, which included three half-centuries for Southern Brave Women.
Former India cricketer Reema Malhotra praised Danielle Wyatt for her batting heroics ahead of the WPL 2024 auction. She said:
“Some people knock on the door and others like to break it. Danni Wyatt said that she went unsold last time, but she will play and show on the same Indian ground (city) where the WPL happened last time and is going to happen this time as well. So, that you know that she can play in these conditions.”
She added: “She is now one of the best T20 batters for England and who plays spin very well.”
