WPL 2024: In less than 24 hours, the latest edition of the Women’s Premier League is all set to roll. The tournament will be starting off with a virtual replay of the last year’s finals as Mumbai Indians will be locking horns with the Delhi Capitals. The two teams did rock and roll in the last year’s tournament for sure but the best part about the fray was that it changed women’s cricket fundamentally.
Times have changed. In the past, women danced in front of women to entertain men.
Now India’s biggest superstar Shahrukh Khan dances at the WPL opening ceremony to entertain women cricketers.

Before we roll with the biggest franchise tournament for women across the globe, here’s a quick glance at three major changes that has come for Team India ever since WPL was introduced. Also we are open to your opinion. So in case if you have to say something, the comment box is always open.
#1 It instilled a fiery spirit in the Indian women

The Indian women on the yard are a lot more fearless. Earlier what used to be 6 runs an over, 7 runs an over, has now changed to 8 and 8.5 and in fact on occasions, slightly north of 10 as well. This is only because the rising women are embracing an attacking brand of cricket and for them it is more about playing T20Is like it should be and not just taking the backseat, happy to be modest in terms of exploits.
#2 Change in outlook

Rubbing shoulders with greats of the game like Ellyse Perry, Kate Cross, Annabel Sutherland, Alyssa Healy, Sophie Devine and who not, the youngsters are now getting introduced to a far superior brand of cricket and this is exactly what has been driving Indian women’s cricket for the past one year. Two Test wins against two powerhouses in whites, Australia and England is just a reflection of how far the Indian women has come.
#3 Has gifted India talents that would be crucial in building the future
Like the way Australian women have always relied on their bank of youngsters to come forth whenever the situation demanded them to, similarly, with WPL coming forth, talents like Shreyanka Patil, Disha Kasat, Jintumoni Kalita, Uma Chetry, Asha Joy, Kanika Ahuja, and the list goes on and on, are coming to the fore. They are capable of changing the game from its very root and this is how WPL is enhancing India’s game.
