The first Test match between India and West Indies turned out to be a memorable one for the young batter Yashasvi Jaiswal as he made a sensational debut for the national team. Jaiswal made a blockbuster knock of 171 runs as he helped Team India and ensured that his team needed to bat only once in the Test match.

Jaiswal opened the innings with captain Rohit Sharma and together they took the game by storm. Jaiswal smashed 171 runs before he was dismissed by Alzarri Joseph. During his knock, he smashed 16 fours and 1 six. He has been receiving praise from all corners for his amazing performance in his first match in an Indian jersey.
However, the journey till here wasn’t an easy one. Jaiswal’s journey from rags to riches is an inspirational one. Jaiswal, who used to sell ‘panipuri’ for pocket money, was left in tears when he reached out to his father after a century a memorable hundred.
Jaiswal Couldn’t Stop Crying
Meanwhile, speaking to Hindustan Times, Jaiswal’s father revealed that the India opener gave him a call at around 4:30 AM in the morning during the Dominica Test and he was crying. He revealed:
“He called around 4:30 am in the morning (IST) after scoring his century (Day 2). He couldn’t hold back his tears. I cried too. It was a very emotional moment. He could not talk for a long time. He was tired. He just asked me ‘are you happy, father?’,”
Jaiswal became India’s 17th batter to hit a century in a Test debut match. He is also the third Indian batter to register a score of 150 in his debut match for India.
