IPL AUCTION

Yuvraj Singh Can’t Be A Part Of IPL 2020

The Punjab batsman called off his international career in June 2019, said, “Decided a year ago IPL 2019 would be my last”

After the retention list came out earlier this month, no franchise was shocked to not see Yuvraj Singh retained by Mumbai Indians. The former all-rounder had made a clear point in 2019 when he opted out of the Indian Premier League in order to play the Global t20 in Canada.

Yuvraj was bought by Mumbai at an unopposed base price of Rs.2 crore when the left-handed batsman went unsold in the first round. However, except for the first match Mumbai Indians played in the season, the southpaw looked out of touch during all the time he spent on the pitch.

India’s World Cup hero had a decent start to his IPL stint with Punjab, then joined Delhi and also donned orange for The Sunrisers Hyderabad before arriving at Wankhede. He always carried a heavy price tag along until last year whereas his form hasn’t proved his greatness in any season of the IPL.

The IPL in April 2020 wouldn’t see Yuvraj as a part of any franchise. Yuvraj has a No Objection Certificate given by BCCI which allows him to play for foreign leagues. He has played for Toronto Nationals in the Global t20 league in Canada and also led The Maratha Arabians to the title this year in the T10 league in Abu Dhabi.

As per policy, BCCI only allows fully retired players to participate in foreign leagues and Yuvraj Singh is one of them now.

No one would wonder when one of the greatest batsmen quits the IPL auctions and never returns to the league as a player again.
