India’s swashbuckling batsman Yuvraj Singh appeared for a fitness test on Tuesday at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) as a part of Indian Cricket Board’s plan to keep a bunch of cricketers ready keeping in mind the long home season ahead.

Yuvraj Singh, who was dropped from the squad during the ICC World T20 2016, worked hard on his fitness and has now cleared the very important fitness test at NCA. Gautam Gambhir, Barinder Sran and Jaspreet Bumrah also appeared for fitness test.

According to some media reports, both, Gautam Gambhir and Yuvaraj Singh, have cleared the fitness Test at NCA. While Gambhir has already earned his comeback call and he will now replace will KL Rahul in the second Test at Eden Garden in Kolkata, Yuvraj Singh is hopeful of making it to India’s ODI squad after 3 long years.

Coach Anil Kumble had reportedly conferred with both Gambhir and Yuvraj on the sidelines of the Duleep Trophy earlier this month and told both veterans to be prepared for a return to the national team, considering the long home season that is ahead. Yuvraj has not played ODIs for India since 2013. He missed out on a place in the 2015 World Cup though he did take part in the 2014 and 2016 World T20s.
