Yuvraj Singh Names The Player Who Will Be India’s Future Captain

Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh is very impressed with the performance of Rishabh Pant and he is very happy that people are finally seeing the young Indian keeper-batsman in a positive light.

Rishabh Pant was initially criticized for his rash batting style. But his performance in Australia at the start of the year and against England at home helped turn around his form and since then there have been no turning backs for the talented cricketers. He had bounced back from a point where he had lost a ‘guaranteed’ spot in the Indian T20I, ODI, and Test squads. However, now Rishabh Pant has grown as a batsman and has now honed his aggression.

Yuvraj Singh, who helped India win two ICC events, backed Rishabh Pant and hailed him as a match-winner. He also feels that Pant could potentially lead India in the future. Recently, in an interview with TOI, Yuvi said:

“He is a find for India. He received a lot of criticism after the ways in which he got out. But Rishabh has proven himself as a match-winner. In tough conditions like Australia, the way he batted and the way he got a brilliant hundred against England. He is probably a key player in the middle-order.”

He added:

I also see Rishabh as a potential Indian captain in the future. Because he is jumpy, chirpy, and talks around. But I feel he surely has a smart brain as well because I saw him when he was captaining in the IPL for Delhi Capitals. He did an incredible job. So, people should look at him as the next captain of the Indian team in the coming years,”

Furthermore, Yuvi went on to compare Rishabh’s batting style to the former Australian great, Adam Gilchrist. He said:

I see Rishabh Pant like Adam Gilchrist. Someone who can change the course of the game. Gilchrist changed the course of the game in Test cricket when he came onto the scene. And I feel Rishabh can do the same”
