Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the former Indian skipper has earned the reputation of the best finisher in the world. Throughout his glorious career, MS Dhoni was tasked with taking India to victory in close games, and he did it very effectively. Even though he used to walk in bat at number 6 or number 5, but he ability to stick it out in the middle and then went on to take his team to the victory side. Not just for team India, but MS Dhoni displayed the same level of performance for his IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings as well.

Recently, speaking on PlayWrite Foundation Facebook page, the former Australia cricketer and the former head coach of India Greg Chappell claimed that he was the one who gave advice to MS Dhoni which helped him become the ‘best finisher’. He revealed:
“I vividly remember that I was left awestruck when I saw him batting for the first time. He was definitely the most exciting cricketer in India at that time. He used to hit the ball from the most unusual positions. He is the most powerful batsman I have ever seen.”
He added:
“I remember his knock of 183 against Sri Lanka and how he tore them apart. It was power hitting at its very best. The next match was in Pune. I asked MS, ‘why don’t you play along the ground more instead of trying to hit every ball to the boundary’. I just felt if he could take out the risk factor from his game, then he could become a much better finisher.”
Well, his comments created a stir on social media as his comments didn’t go down well with the former Indian cricketers Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh.
Well, soon after Greg Chappell’s comments, Harbhajan Singh took to his Twitter and expressed his disappointment with a tweet. He wrote:
“He asked Dhoni to play along the ground coz coach was hitting everyone out the park.. He was playing different games.”
Harbhajan Singh even added the hashtag “#worstdaysofindiancricketundergreg”.

“Msd and Yuvi no sixes in the last 10 play down the ground,” followed with a laughing emoji.
