In the third match of the just concluded ODI series against England, MS Dhoni played a bizarre performance during India’s chase. He played a slow knock and scored 37 balls off the 59 balls he played. He played many dot balls and later, became the victim of criticism and trolls on social media.

While many are criticizing and blaming Dhoni, Yuzvendra Chahal has came in support for the former cricketer and revealed the reason behind the slow performance of MS Dhoni.

After the match, Yuzvendra Chahal addressed the media after the game and spoke about the rationale behind Dhoni’s innings. He said:

“Because later on there were only Kaul, me(Chahal) and Kuldeep, it wasn’t like 2-3 batsmen were remaining”

He added :

“Also, I think Mahi bhai hasn’t batted throughout the series, and this was his chance of getting a knock.
Because if he had hit a shot and gotten out, maybe we couldn’t have batted for 50 overs”

It was odd watching MS Dhoni play like this, however, he helped the team not to loose by a huge margin.

Talking about his performance, during Dhoni’s knock of 37 runs, MS Dhoni became the 12th player and also, the 4th Indian player in the history of the game to score 10,000 ODI runs.
