After back-to-back defeats in their first two Super 12 matches, the Indian cricket team finally bounced back into form and opened their account in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021. Team India defeated Afghanistan by 66 runs on Wednesday at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi to register their maiden win of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021 tournament.

With this win, the Indian side has moved one place from fifth to fourth in the points table. On the other hand, Afghanistan is now in a tricky situation as they will go into their last game of the tournament. After being asked to bat first, the Indian batters put up a stellar show with the bat and registered a target of 210 runs

India was back to their regular openers KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma, who gave a flying start to the team. Both the cricketers formed a formidable partnership as they smashed the Afghan bowlers to all the corners of the ground, scoring 69 and 74 runs respectively.

Later, the Indian bowlers restricted the Afghans from chasing the target with ease. Mohammed Shami and Ravi Ashwin gave a tough time to the Afghan batters as they picked 3 and 2 wickets each respectively. Interestingly, team India also recorded the highest team total in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021.
