Team India wouldn’t have dreamt in their worst nightmare what they experienced in the opening session of Day 3 of the ongoing first day-night Test match at Adelaide. With a significant lead of 62 in hand and an overnight scorecard reading 9/1, team India’s batting line-up was shattered into pieces within one hour by the powerful performance by the Australian bowlers.

Day 3 began with the nightwatchman Jasprit Bumrah giving his wicket to Pat Cummins with a simple catch. Mayank Agarwal and Ajinkya Rahane also found themselves reeling at 15 for 5 from 15 for 1.

Pat Cummins then dismissed Pujara with a stunner before Hazlwod put India in more trouble. Hazlewood dismissed Mayank Agarwal and Ajinkya Rahane for 9 and 0 respectively to take his team Australia to the top.

After the batting line-up was bundled up by the Australian bowlers, all eyes and hopes were on the Indian skipper Virat Kohli. However, Kohli failed to deliver too as he could only score 4 runs before getting dismissed by Pat Cummings. His dismissal reduced India to 19 for 6.

And then there were no turning backs for the Australian bowlers as it opened the floodgates of wickets — Wriddhiman Saha (4), Ravichandran Ashwin (0), Hanuma Vihari (8), Mohammed Shami (1 – retired hurt).

The Indian cricket team finished with only 36/9, setting the target of just 90 for the Australians. This was the lowest runs scored by the Indian cricket team in the history of the longest game. It was in 1974 when the Indian cricket team scored the lowest score of 42 runs.

To their credit, Josh Hazlewood claimed magical figures of 5/8 while Pat Cummins registered the figures of 4/21.
