Shreyas Iyer is one of the most talented batsmen in world cricket. In the opening match of the 5-match T20I series against New Zealand, Iyer played an absolute blinder of a knock and helped India register a win in the opening match of a tour which is going to be a long one for Men in Blue.
Iyer came in to bat after the fall of KL Rahul’s wicket and soon after India were in a spot of bother after the captain Virat Kohli got out while looking to play a big shot. But, young Shreyas Iyer, who is looking to cement his place in the playing XI, played one of the best innings of his T20 career and took India to a memorable win in front of a big crowd.
Iyer looked completely at ease as he played aggressive shots all across the wicket and didn’t allow the run rate to go up throughout his stay the crease. His knock also sent out a strong message to fans, opposition, and selectors that there is a new finisher in India and he is here to stay. Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten on 58 off 29 deliveries along with Manish Pandey who added 14 of his own from the other end.
Iyer’s knock was praised by one and all on Twitter and here are the 10 best tweets on his match-winning knock:
Excellent chase India! KL Rahul and Virat Kohli scored well but Shreyas Iyer was excellent with his hitting and choices of shot. A chase of over 200 in 19 overs deserves a lot of credit.
Well played @ShreyasIyer15

Shreyas Iyer’s knock is a good example of how having a proper number four batsman (and giving him exposure in that situation) helps. #NZvInd
