16 years, many trophies, hundreds of innings and stumpings, thousands of runs, and countless memories — it has been 16 years of MS Dhoni in the cricket world. On this day, 16 years ago, MSD made his debut against Bangladesh. Later in September 2007, when Dhoni was appointed as the skipper for the first team and the rest is history.

Though, the journey wasn’t as easy as it looked like, especially in the beginning. Dhoni’s start wasn’t good, however, he still went on to become one of the greatest limited-overs batsmen for India.

Mahi was phenomenal as a leader and is regarded as one of the greatest captains to have played the game. As a skipper, MSD took the Indian cricket team to the number 1 position and led India to numerous memorable triumphs under his captaincy and still remains the only skipper to have won all three major ICC trophies – ODI World Cup (2011), T20 World Cup (2007), and Champions Trophy (2013).

MSD announced his retirement from international cricket earlier this year in August. Even though Mahi has retired from the game, he is still ruling the hearts of his millions of fans.

As MSD completed 16 years in cricket, fans flooded social media with their amazing posts for the legendary Indian cricketer as fans celebrated his 16th year anniversary in the cricket world. From amazing videos to amazing tributes for the former Indian skipper, the internet is once again abuzz with tributes for MSD.

Fans used the hashtag #16YearsofIconicDhoni to mark the day Dhoni made his debut for the Indian cricket team.
