IPL 2023 Final

The IPL 2023 Final will take place on Sunday, May 28, at the world’s largest cricket stadium, the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad. The Chennai Super Kings are the first team to qualify for the final of the 16th edition of the IPL.

CSK will have made a record 10th time appearance in an IPL final. They featured in the inaugural final back in 2008, where they lost to the Rajasthan Royals. One of Gujarat Titans or Mumbai Indians will meet CSK in the final this season.

Here are 2 stars who played in the 2008 IPL final and will also feature in the IPL 2023 final:

MS Dhoni

Perhaps for one last time, one last game, one last shot at the IPL trophy: MS Dhoni will be leading CSK in the IPL 2023 final.

This could well be the last match for the 41-year-old MS Dhoni, who had captained CSK into the 2008 final, 15 years ago.

In that final against Rajasthan Royals in 2008, MS Dhoni had scored 29* off 17 balls. However, CSK lost the final on the last ball.

Nonetheless, CSK and MS Dhoni have a rich legacy in the IPL with 9 finals so far and 4 trophies. This will be the 11th IPL final for MS Dhoni – he was part of the 2017 final with Rising Pune Supergiant.

Ravindra Jadeja

In the 2008 final, Ravindra Jadeja was opposite to MS Dhoni. Jadeja was part of Shane Warner’s Royals team that won the inaugural IPL final. Jadeja didn’t bowl in that match and was dismissed for a golden duck.

Even so, Jadeja has come a long way in his career and has forged himself as one of CSK’s all-time greats and a significant contributor as an all-rounder; he was even made CSK’s captain last season for the first half before MSD took the captaincy back. Jadeja
