It was another year of IPL and finally after three consecutive years of making the play-off and being the only team to achieve the feat, RCB were knocked out of the 2023 IPL as they were defeated by the Gujarat Titans in the final group league match.
Albeit a century from the willow of Virat Kohli, it wasn’t enough for the Royal Challengers Bangalore to find a way to the top and then Virat Kohli was towered by the mighty Shubman Gill who played the true innings of a successor to Virat Kohli.
Obviously, a lot of questions have been asked already about what did the team do wrong. Well the answers are a plenty but at the end of the day there were a few players who failed to live up to their potential and probably with the concept of future in mind, here are two players that RCB must let go of for the upcoming IPL season.
#1 Dinesh Karthik
It may be hard to say this but the Finisher Supreme’s rise to the top has been curtailed by his own ambition to only smack the ball around. His contribution to the RCB side has been pretty minimal this year and the fact that he was unable to contribute left RCB with a lot of questions in the middle-order. The Finisher Supreme would probably be switching to full-time commentary gig for the upcoming grand events and keeping it all in mind, RCB must let go of DK.
#2 Harshal Patel
This is another debatable call but believe this or not, the man who claimed those many wickets in 2020 has been made. There is no turning around for Purple Patel unless he comes forward with another wicket-taking variation and things may still look bleak. All the slower balls that he had to offer has been cracked and that is the exact reason why he was launched over and over again to various corners of the park. How hard it may sound but Harshal needs to be replaced with a quality fast bowler.
