Gujarat Titans’ star batter Shubman Gill was targeted by trolls after he played a sensational knock and singlehandedly guided Gujarat Titans (GT) to a famous win over Virat Kohli-starrer Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 on Sunday. His knock shattered the hopes of RCB and Virat Kohli to make it to the playoffs.
Gill Is Receiving Hate On Social Media
Fans witnessed two centuries last night in the last league game of the ongoing 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League. It was Virat Kohli, who started off the game with a bang, smashing a stunning century in the first innings.
However, Shubman Gill was too good with the bat as he outplayed Royal Challengers Bangalore with his stunning knock. He fought like a lone wolf and took his team home. He over-shadowed the century of Kohli with his blistering knock, helping Gujarat Titans seal a 6-wicket win over RCB.
As Shubman’s century shattered the hopes of RCB, fans blamed him and as a result, he received abuses and hateful messages on social media. Even fans didn’t spare his sister and sent threats to her.

Gill remained unbeaten on 104 off 52, an innings featuring five fours and eight sixes. Speaking after the match, Gill, who was adjudged player-of-the-match, said:
“I am in good form, it’s about getting a start and then converting it into a big one,”
He added: “In the first half of the IPL, I was missing out on those big ones. I was getting a lot of 40s and 50s. Thankfully, it’s all working out for me in the business end of the IPL. You need to keep playing shots in T20 cricket. You have to keep the intent and keep applying yourself, keep the belief,”
Shubman will be next seen in action in the Qualifier 1 round against Chennai Super Kings at the Chepauk Stadium.
“It’s going to be an exciting one, playing against Chennai in Chennai. We have got a great bowling attack for that wicket in particular and hopefully we’ll make it to the final for the second time.”
