There was a meeting between BCCI and IPL franchises to have a discussion about the rules and regulations ahead of the IPL 2024 mega auction. IPL franchises have suggested the BCCI to impose 2 year ban on overseas players who come out of the IPL season without a valid reason after getting bought in the IPL auction. Moreover, they have also suggested the BCCI to make it mandatory for the overseas players to register for the mega auction and not just the mini auction to receive higher prices.
2 Punishments On The Overseas Players In The Upcoming IPL Auctions

There have been many instances that overseas players after getting bought for considerable price tag in the auction have withdrawn from the season without any valid reason or to manage workload. This has greatly troubled the franchises who have messed up their team combination after getting a plan in the auction.
Moreover, the foreign players don’t register for the mega auction where they can be bought for considerable lower prices instead they go for the mini auction where there is a bidding war for the players and the franchises have to spend higher price to sign the overseas players.
So, there will now be strict rules in place to maintain and keep check on the overseas players and their impact in the IPL auctions.
BCCI has definitely heard the suggestions of each franchise in the meeting. However, it’s now time for them to make the final decision. They will announce the rules and regulations of the auction by the end of August. Now, it remains to be seen if BCCI does actually agree with what the franchises have suggested and make these rules from the upcoming IPL mega auction at the end of this year.
