The IPL 2023 is nearing its end with the Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings reaching the final. The 16th edition of the IPL tournament was an extremely high-scoring IPL season, with plenty of 200+ totals being racked up and a few of them even being chased down.
Coming to the players, most of the expensive and high-budget signings were a let down for the franchises. Interestingly, there were a few expensive players who didn’t even get a chance to showcase their talent and skills.
Here are 2 expensive players who didn’t play a single match in IPL 2023:

Dewald Brevis
Dewald Brevis had showcased his talent and skillset in his debut IPL season last year and Mumbai Indians retained him for his salary of INR 3 crore. Monikered as ‘Baby AB’, Dewald Brevis was one of the few overseas stars who didn’t get to play a single game in the Indian Premier League 2023 edition. Mumbai Indians had bought all-rounder Cameron Green for INR 17.5 crore, so he was certain to play. Tim David took the position left by Kieron Pollard.
The other two overseas slots went to foreign pacers – Archer, Meredith, Behrendorff and Jordan featured for MI this season. Brevis’ compatriot, Tristan Stubbs got to play in a couple of games. Since MI had Indian youngsters Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera in the middle-order along with Suryakumar, Green, and David, there was no place for Brevis.
R Sai Kishore
Bought for INR 3 crore, left-arm spinner Sai Kishore was part of the Gujarat Titans XI that won the IPL 2022. However, the 26-year-old left-arm spinner didn’t get to play in a single game this season. Instead, to partner Rashid Khan, GT opted to play Afghanistan left-arm leg-spinner Noor Ahmad.
Shivam Mavi
Gujarat Titans had splurged INR 6 crore for young Indian pacer Shivam Mavi in the Indian Premier League 2023 auction. However, Mavi, who has plenty of IPL experience with KKR, didn’t play a single match yet in the Indian Premier League 2023 season. And this was a surprise. Because Hardik Pandya and Ashish Nehra played other uncapped Indian seamers like Yash Dayal and Darshan Nalkande while Mohit Sharma cemented his place with brilliant death overs bowling.
