The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are arguably the most successful IPL team in the tournament’s history. The MS Dhoni-led franchise has won 5 IPL title, though same as Mumbai Indians, CSK have more playoff and final appearances than Rohit Sharma’s team.

The Chennai Based franchise has had a number of the players who became legends of the IPL. And even when some of the players have left Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, they remain associated with the Super Kings franchise one way or another.

With the number of leagues sprouting up in world cricket currently, the Super Kings’ owners have made investments in overseas leagues and have roped in some of their regular current and ex Chennai Super Kings players to play for them and continue to don the yellow jersey.

Here are 3 former CSK players who will continue to don the yellow jersey in overseas leagues:

Faf du Plessis

One of the significant contributors in Chennai Super Kings IPL title wins in 2018 and 2021, former South African captain Faf du Plessis parted ways with Chennai Super Kings after 2021 and was bought by RCB in the IPL 2022 mega-auction.

However, Faf du Plessis remains associated with the Super Kings franchise in two other leagues. He’s the captain of the Jo’burg Super Kings team in South Africa’s SA20 competition and will also lead the Texas Super Kings team in the upcoming inaugural season of the Major League Cricket (MLC) – which is America’s first-ever professional franchise cricket league sanctioned by the ICC.

Faf du Plessis spent a long time at Chennai Super Kings: 92 of his 130 IPL games came for Chennai Super Kings.

Dwayne Bravo

Legendary all-rounder and now IPL’s second-leading all-time wicket-taker, Dwayne Bravo, retired from the IPL after the 2022 season. Bravo bid adieu to the IPL with a total of 183 wickets, 140 of which came in the yellow of Chennai Super Kings. Bravo took up the job of the bowling coach at Chennai Super Kings for IPL 2023 and played an instrumental role in Chennai Super Kings winning their 5th IPL title.

He will now turn up for the Texas Super Kings, Super Kings Dallas-based franchise in the MLC.

Ambati Rayudu

Ambati Rayudu is the latest IPL legend to have retired from the IPL. Rayudu, who played a superb cameo in the IPL 2023 final, played for MI and Chennai Super kings in his IPL career and retires with 6 IPL trophies to his name.

Now that he’s retired from all forms of Indian cricket, Rayudu is allowed to participate in overseas franchise leagues and his first overseas franchise league will be MLC. He has decided to remain associated with Super Kings franchise by joining the Texas Super Kings.

The MLC 2023 is a six-team tournament that will kick-start on July 13.
